Hana's work

Letter to Pharaoh

Dear Pharaoh Kufu,

I have been one of your most loyal servants for over 15 years and I have been elected to write to you by my fellow workers. All of your workers agree that you should change our current working conditions, as it would be vital to help us complete you pyramids.

Firstly, it is essential that we should have short breaks. This is necessary because working 16 hours in the blistering heat and being dehydrated with no shade or water, means we cannot work, in addition, it is vital of you support us it is essential that we need breaks, because without them we will not be able to complete your pyramids, would you want to work in the blistering heat building your pyramids?

Furthermore, we would like to have medical care as in if we get hurt, surely someone like you would obviously understand. My friend was badly injured over a heavy and big rock and I wasn’t able to help him, if we have medical care all your salves will be fit, overall being slow and not completing your pyramid. It is ridiculous that everyday slaves die, just because we have no medical care.

In conclusion, please take my points into account. If you allow me and your workers to have medical care, short breaks, and I will insure you will do the right thing, therefore your pyramid will be completed quicker. How many more slaves have to die before you take action?

You’re sincerely from all your workers

Do We Still Need Zoos?

A large majority of animal activists have argued that having animals in zoos is completely unethical. However, many others believe it is necessary for zoos, due to the fact animals are safe and well away from their predators.

Foremost scientists argue that zoos provide food, water, shelter and especially medical treatment for the animals; therefore they are able to keep healthy. Furthermore, due to the number of extinctions zoos have successfully breaded many animals adding to the world’s population. In addition to this, young pupils have a fantastic opportunity to see the animals, which encourages them to learn more about them.

On the other hand, most animal activists believe that animals slowly lose their natural instincts, also that the unfortunate animals are incapable of roaming free, whereas in the wild they can accomplish absolutely anything. Following on, many others believe that animals are in this world for a reason not just for mankind’s entertainment.

Overall, statistics show that zoos are a healthy environment for animals, although they have been captured from their natural habitat. Have these vulnerable animals been treated fairly or have they been taken advantage of?

Football team highlights

SOUTH PARK VS CRANBROOK

South Park Primary School outplayed Cranbrook Primary School on Wednesday 10th October 2012. We had a bad start to the game we wern't awake. We ended up conceding a goal to Cranbrook's main player. It was a fabulous goal by a fabulous player! We kept conceding corners and it was hard to defend them without our captain, Eshun Kalley, who could not make it because of illness. In the second half we were wide awake and we were defending goals. After beautiful defending by Ashraf, mohammed set up a goal for illyas! 5 minnutes after Illyas set up a tap in for Gyane. With five minnutes to go, as goalkeeper I had to work hard with the defenders. They almost scored but luckily Ashraf cleared it. The match ended 2-1 to South Park.
